WHAT TO WEAR
Depending upon the season and venue, wearing the right sailing gear is essential in to staying warm and dry. Whether is UV protection in the spring, or thermal layers in the fall, there are options for every season. We recommend consulting your coach or a local YSS expert to determine exactly what gear works best for you.
Many schools and programs will require, or highly recommend, a drysuit when the weather and water temperature are cold. Gill’s Pro Drysuit offers the ultimate in protection against the water with only three layers, making it lightweight and comfortable. The clever combination of fabrics helps the suit to keep the body both warm and dry in extreme sailing conditions.
Pro Tip: Wear breathable, wicking base layers to allow proper temperature regulation.
Neoprene or waterproof are a necessity for cold weather sailing. Gill’s Neoprene Winter Glove offers a warm and durable solution, with an exceptional grip thanks to the texture of a Sharkskin palm. The insulating, water resistant finish of double-lined neoprene makes them comfortable and malleable so your dexterity isn’t affected while performing tasks and your hands are kept dry.
