CHAMPION SAILOR MATT SMITH JOINS SAILING INC / EVOLUTION SAILS.
Charleston, SC - Sailing Inc, a trusted provider of premium sailing and marine products, services and support, welcomes Matt Smith to build upon their efforts in providing the best sails, service and support for Cruising, Racing and One Design sailors in the United States.
Smith a long-time sailor and former sailmaker for over 15 years, brings a multitude of experience in various boats including Lightnings, Flying Scots, E Scows, J/24’s, J/105’s and numerous PHRF classes. Smith was a member of the two-time National champions college sailing team at Old Dominion University and competed in the 1992 Finn Olympic Trials.
Smith will join our Evolution Sails South Atlantic team in Charleston as the Service/Production manager. Smith will focus on Sailing Inc.’s mission of building a stronger relationship between the sailor and the sailmaker, leveraging Evolution Sails championship-caliber sail design and production teams to deliver high-performance, long-lasting cruising and racing sails built by one of the world’s most innovative sailmakers.
Smith started his sail making career in 1992, working alongside Henry Bossett at Shore Sails New Jersey. In 1996 he took over the Shore Sails franchise as owner manager. In 1998 he joined Banks sails International. Smith moved to Charleston in 2012 as Operations manager at a restaurant supply business.
